1. Who We Are

OgaLanLord is a Nigerian property and services platform operated by Ogalanlord Inc., a subsidiary of FixIT Services, registered in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We connect property seekers with verified landlords and agents, and clients with skilled artisans and service professionals. We also operate an escrow service for artisan job payments. 2. Data We Collect

Information you provide

Full name, email address, phone number, profile photo, and password when you register. Property or artisan listing details including address, price, description, and photos. Messages sent through our platform. Bank account details when you set up payouts as an artisan. Government-issued identity documents if requested for verification.

Information we collect automatically

IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, and pages visited. Login timestamps and session duration. Actions taken on the platform such as searches, bookings, and reviews. Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 9).

Information from third parties

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google. We do not receive your Google password. Payment processors (Paystack) may share transaction status information with us.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Create and manage your account and authenticate your identity.
  • Display your listings or artisan profile to other users.
  • Facilitate bookings, job contracts, and escrow payments.
  • Send transactional emails: email verification, password resets, booking confirmations, and payment notifications.
  • Send optional marketing and listing-alert emails (you may opt out at any time).
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
  • Comply with Nigerian law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023.
  • Improve the platform through aggregated, anonymised analytics.
  • Respond to support requests and disputes.
  • Fulfil our obligations as an escrow agent, including maintaining records of job agreements and payment flows.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

  • Contract: processing necessary to provide our services to you.
  • Consent: for marketing emails and optional notifications, which you may withdraw at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: fraud prevention, security, and platform improvement, where these do not override your rights.
  • Legal obligation: where we are required to process data to comply with Nigerian law.

5. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following circumstances:

  • Other users: your public profile information (name, city, listing details) is visible to other users as necessary to use the platform.
  • Paystack: your bank details are transmitted to Paystack to process payouts. Paystack is PCI-DSS compliant.
  • Termii or SMS providers: your phone number may be shared with our SMS delivery partner for OTP and notification messages.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): photos and files are stored on AWS S3 and served via AWS CloudFront.
  • Law enforcement: we may disclose data where required by a valid court order or government authority in Nigeria.
  • Business transfer: in the event of a merger or acquisition, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before this occurs.

6. Escrow and Financial Data

As an escrow agent, we maintain records of all job agreements, payment instructions, and fund movements tied to transactions on our platform. This data is retained for 7 years to comply with Nigerian financial regulations. We process this data solely to operate the escrow service and resolve disputes. We do not use financial transaction data for marketing or share it with third parties beyond what is necessary to process payments.

7. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained while your account is active and for up to 3 years after deletion to comply with Nigerian financial regulations.
  • Property and artisan listing data is retained for 12 months after removal from the platform.
  • Messages are retained for 2 years to support dispute resolution.
  • Escrow and payment records are retained for 7 years to comply with financial regulations.
  • Email verification tokens expire in 24 hours; password reset tokens expire in 1 hour.
  • Anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including TLS/HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, bcrypt password hashing, JWT-based session management with immediate session revocation on logout, and access controls limiting staff access to personal data. Despite these measures, no system is completely secure. If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, contact us immediately at support@ogalanlord.com.

9. Your Rights (NDPA 2023)

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the following rights:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion: request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention obligations.
  • Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Data portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent: withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time via the unsubscribe link in emails or by contacting us.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@ogalanlord.com. We will respond within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) at ndpc.gov.ng.

10. Cookies and Local Storage

We use the following storage mechanisms:

  • Authentication tokens: stored in sessionStorage and localStorage to keep you logged in. These are essential and cannot be disabled without logging out.
  • Preferences: stored in localStorage to remember your theme and UI preferences.
  • Analytics: we may use anonymised analytics tools that do not identify you personally.

You can clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings, which will log you out.

11. Children's Privacy

OgaLanLord is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a child has registered, we will delete their data promptly. Contact privacy@ogalanlord.com if you believe a child has registered.

12. International Transfers

Your data is primarily stored on AWS servers. Where data is transferred outside Nigeria, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with the NDPA 2023, including standard contractual clauses where required.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of OgaLanLord after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
